Recycling coffee grounds: a sustainable alternative

Royal Porthcawl

We have been collecting coffee grounds from our coffee machine to distribute to members, visitors, and the clubhouse team for use in composting, as fertiliser, mulch, or pest repellent. Coffee grounds are a sustainable alternative to industrial fertilisers, rich in nitrogen and other essential nutrients. By using coffee grounds, we support organic gardening and reduce dependence on synthetic fertilisers, which often have a high carbon footprint.

We supply the coffee grounds in their original packaging, helping to reduce plastic waste and landfill contributions. This approach supports the circular economy and minimises our environmental impact. Any surplus not used for the club’s herb garden is made available to our community!
