Putting groundwater to good use

During the 2020 summer, we started to notice groundwater rising in our transitional bunker along the 14th hole. At the start of the hole, we have a natural water feature which is habitat for several different species of birds, ducks and waders. We installed several lines of gravel banding into the transitional bunker and directed the water towards the water feature, we then increased the size of the water feature to facilitate the additional water. We added a small amount of reshaping to the hazard and incorporated some native reeds, water plants and grasses Within days we started to see an increased number of birds populate the new pond. This new section of the pond gives golfers easier access to viewing the wildlife as the thinner reeds and shallow pond gives greater viewing.
