We are delighted to have nesting plovers on our golf course. This continues the experiences of very visible Oyster Catchers nesting right by the 14th fairway, and a family of Canada geese who regularly feed on the 17th and 18th fairways.
Our plovers nest is potentially very vulnerable and so warning signs have been put up for golfers. This has also been well communicated to all members in a weekly update.
We take the care of nesting birds very seriously - green staff roped off the nest of the Oyster catchers until the chicks developed. The Clubs new entrance sign was made sustainably from old sleepers.
To make additional use of the sign, a bird box was attached to the back of it to encourage birds to nest.
