A phased program of tree cleaning and proactive management has been underway on the Millennium course to start to lift canopies of densely overgrown trees. This practice has encouraged more daylight to penetrate the canopy and should encourage, over time, the re-establishment of some understory plantings, improve biodiversity and the overall health and safety of the woodland areas.
Along with this management, there has been a flora survey leading to the systematic reduction and removal of exotic and invasive species. In some cases where replanting has occurred, we have ensured that only native species were used. A habitat management plan is now in place to continue to monitor the success and progress of this tree management work.
