St Andrews Links are proud to be part of Syngenta's ‘Operation Pollinator’ biodiversity programme. This nationwide initiatives aim is to boost the number of pollinating insects by creating specific habitats tailored to local conditions. For St Andrews, this was done by preparing wildflower meadows across some of the courses. To take full advantage of these meadows six beehives have also been introduced to the Links.
Working alongside Plan Bee, who supplied the hives and will continue to tend to them, the goal is to improve the general balance of the environment and bring other vital insect pollinators directly to the site.
