The LIV Golf UK event demonstrated water and waste management solutions, setting a standard for sustainability in sports events. Rainwater was pumped from the south lake to the irrigation lake, ensuring the course was maintained with minimal environmental impact and promoting the use of sustainable water resources. Spectator toilets were equipped with recirculating chemical flush systems, conserving 1,249,600 litres of water throughout the event.
In terms of waste management, 99.5% of event waste was diverted from landfill through recycling and upcycling initiatives. Among these efforts, 2,954 plastic bottles were repurposed into bowling pins for Majesticks GC’s school programme, which aims to introduce underrepresented children to the sport of golf. This initiative not only helped reduce plastic waste but also supported young people in the community.
These actions reflect the event’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while also investing in social responsibility.
