The St Andrews Links Junior Golf Association - SALJGA as it is more commonly known – was established in 2001 and continues to go from strength to strength. Designed to attract more local youngsters to the game of golf, SALJGA has welcomed more than 2000 young players, who have learned the rudiments of the game as members.

Hundreds of children have now benefitted from tuition and competition. SALJGA members have been national champions and have participated in the Dunhill Links Championship. In 2012 SALJGA boasted a total of 268 members aged between 5 and 18, who are either residents in St Andrews or pupils at one of the schools within the town. However, the lasting legacy of SALJGA is a whole generation of children who have been given the opportunity to play golf and have lots of fun doing it.
