The Red Flag Valley Course naturalized a portion of the rough next to the fairway, making them low or no maintenance. This was accomplished by selecting landscape trees on the course that have an odd shape or are near drop-off points that golfers frequently pass, and completely removing the rough areas under these pine trees or along the cart paths. The pine needles and leftover wood chips were collected from the pine trees and placed under the trees after the grass was pulled out, and the ground was reshaped to make it an obvious area for renovation.
The GEO environmental demonstration area sign was set up under the trees to show the golfers the environmental protection pruning concept of the area. It increases the course appearance, reduces players' time to find the ball, and greatly reduces the maintenance cost of the lawn. At the same time, trees with special locations, shapes and significance to the club were named and pinned with tree signs to show players information about the tree species, their role in nature and the course as a whole, and to increase the promotional highlights on the course, thus promoting GEO's sustainable development and environmental protection concept.
