At Aphrodite hills we use a combination of information sources to determine how much water to apply to the turf on the golf course. On the greens we use the Fieldscout TDR 350 soil moisture meter to determine the moisture content in the soil profile. We have some set parameters that we use as a guide for each green to determine if we need to water. We also use our on-site weather station that collects data and gives us the daily ET along with the wind speed and temperatures.

For the rest of the course, we use a combination of the visual look of the turf, soil probes where we take a core and see how much moisture is in the profile. This way we can manage water for effectively and more efficiently preventing the overuse of water in areas that are not needed.
