New vegetable garden helps reduce our carbon footprint

Palheiro Golf

Portugal

This vegetable garden was created to provide our restaurant with fresh, aromatic ingredients for its dishes. The garden is 100% organic and helps reduce the greenhouse effect and global warming by using practices that retain carbon in the soil and boost productivity. It focuses on maintaining soil fertility and health.

Fertile soils, which store significant amounts of carbon, act as sponges that preserve nutrients and prevent contamination of surface and groundwater. By avoiding synthetic products, we reduce the consumption of non-renewable energy, as the production of these chemicals requires substantial fossil fuels.

The production of our own produce also helps reduce the distance that our food has to travel and the associated emissions from transportation.
