National History Museum partnerships helps take practical action on the course

At Golf National we collaborate with a number of organisations, including Museum National D’Histoire Naturelle (MNHN), to preserve the habitats and biodiversity on our site. As host venue to some of the biggest events in golf, such as the Ryder Cup and the HNA Open De France, there are logistical challenges that we need to mitigate for. MNHN helps us inventory species, record and analyse the results, while the course management team undertakes many practical actions to ensure the space and resources for wildlife and native vegetations.

For example, we have created hibernaculum (home for reptiles and amphibians); green waste piles for insects, and recycling our organic materials; enrockments (home for invertebrates and aesthetic landscaping); beehives for pollination and to educate on the importance of bees; bird's nests to help control worms and insects on the course; we also practice late-mowing techniques and landscape protection for our signature nature zones identified by MNHN.
