Multiple ecological benefits to leaving dead wood stump standing

Temple Golf Club

England

This dead tree has been allowed to remain standing between two holes on the golf course to assist with nutrient recycling and improve biodiversity.

This particular tree also has large cavities which provide unique environments for wildlife, e.g. crevices within the tree offer bats a safe place to roost whilst many UK beetle species rely on deadwood such as this for the development and protections of their larvae.
