Sustainability and the efficient use of resources are part of Vanguard Properties' DNA, and this extends to the Terras da Comporta project, which includes the Dunas Golf Course. Vanguard equips the agronomy team at Dunas with a range of tools to support informed decision-making around irrigation.
Key among these are the course’s weather station and Pogo, which play a vital role in efficiently watering the greens and other areas. There is also a platform that manages the entire water pumping and storage system, along with soil probes installed at the most critical points on the course. We’ve also been trialling Turf Rad for several months with promising results. Finally, Irristat provides a daily snapshot of the course across various parameters.
These tools help ensure we irrigate only where and when it's truly needed—maximising efficiency and conserving one of our most valuable natural resources.
