These carefully arranged clusters of decaying wood, which we have created on unused parts of the the course, provide an array of benefits for various organisms such as insects, lichens, fungi, and mosses.
Tiny creatures, such as beetles, woodlice, and worms, find shelter and nourishment amidst the decaying timber, fostering a thriving microcosm of life. Birds then feed on the organisms that make their home in the decaying wood, increasing the range of wildlife on the course.
Additionally, as the wood decomposes, it releases essential nutrients into the surrounding soil, enriching the ecosystem and supporting the growth of diverse plant species.
