O desenho de Robert Trent Jones Snr em Troia procurou o fazer a perfeita ligação dos fairways com a zona dunar. Durante o ano de 2018 a equipa de Troia voltou à pratica de cortes de fairways até à areia, sem fazer corte de semi-rough, acentuando a ligação natural fairway / duna. Esteticamente esta pratica vai de encontro com o resultado pretendido, e permite reduzir a utilização de herbicidas e uma segunda máquina de corte com alturas diferentes.

The golf course designer of Troia - Robert Trent Jones Snr - sought to make the perfect connection of the golf fairways with the natural dune surroundings. During the year 2018, the Troia team undertook a project to cut fairways to the natural sand dune habitat, removing semi-rough to accentuate the natural fairway-to-dune connection.
Aesthetically, this practice meets the design intent of the golf architect and it makes for interesting recovery shots for golfers. It allows us to reduce the use of herbicides when maintaining the turf and removed the need for a second mower with a different height of cut.
