Less annual meadow grass, less pesticides, better greens

In line with the agreements made between the golf sector and the government about phasing out pesticide use, Capelse Golf Club has been working on this assignment in the past year.

The course committee, composed of volunteers, advisor Robin de Vooght, and the greenkeeper team led by Thijs de Jong (Hollandsche Greenkeepingsmaatschappij) has drawn up an action plan aimed at reducing the proportion of annual meadow grass (poa annua) in the grass stock of the greens. A difference can be made with the right maintenance program. Based on this, the aim is a percentage of less than 10% annual meadow grass. This is now being achieved on most greens.
