At Tierra del Sol, we recognised that reducing our water use required a more efficient approach to irrigation. A key step was to replace our irrigation system and pump with a modern, upgraded model. This involved replacing all sprinkler heads, pipes, lines, and the main pump, giving us the opportunity to optimise the sprinkler layout for more complete and efficient coverage.
On such a windy island, designing the system to account for wind spray is essential to minimise water loss. The upgraded pump is also more energy-efficient, requiring less power to operate, which in turn reduces the club’s carbon emissions. While this upgrade is a significant investment, we’re confident that the long-term savings on water costs outweigh the initial expense. Plus, the sustainability benefits of reduced water usage align with our commitment to environmental stewardship.
