L’iris sibirica si è estinto in Valle d’Aosta nel 2001, dove è stato osservato per l’ultima volta dai botanici proprio nella piana dove oggi sorge anche il Golf Les Iles. Questa pianta rappresenta quell'ambiente umido, paludoso, ripario del fondovalle aostano, quasi completamente scomparso a causa dell'urbanizzazione iniziata negli anni 60 del secolo scorso, alle operazioni di cava, e alle ancora attuali bonifiche per la trasformazione di terreni incolti in agricoli. Tre anni fa lo abbiamo reintrodotto con alcune piante acquistate da vivai e nella primavera 2019 possiamo affermare che il progetto è andato a buon fine.

The Sibirica Iris became extinct in Aosta Valley in 2001, where it was observed for the last time by botanists in the plain where Golf Les Iles is located today. This plant represents that humid, marshy environment of the Aosta valley, almost completely disappeared due to the urbanization begun in the 1960s, to the quarry operations, and to the still current reclamations for the transformation of uncultivated land into agricultural.
Three years ago, we reintroduced it with some plants purchased from nurseries and in spring 2019, the project was successful.
