Located along the Brisbane River with views of the Gateway Bridge, the club is dedicated to responsible water management and innovative practices to ensure the long-term health of its grounds and surrounding ecosystems.

Current Water Supply Situation

Since 1996, after constructing a pipeline to the Gibson Island Treatment Plant, the club has used AAA-rated treated effluent on the golf course, eliminating the need for potable town water or bore water for turf irrigation. The relatively high nutrient content in the treated effluent has also reduced the club’s nitrogen input requirements for its fertilisation programme.

Future Water Supply Strategy

In addition to using treated wastewater, the club is developing a stormwater harvesting programme to further support irrigation needs. This initiative will increase the site’s stormwater detention capacity during high rainfall events, with harvested water stored in a holding pond for future irrigation. This programme is integrated into the design and development of a new 9-hole short course planned for land east of the Gateway Bridge.
