Over the past six months, we've been giving our members the opportunity to be part of the greens keeping team. Once a month a small team of members are volunteering their time to help the grounds staff maintain the course and get an understanding of the work that's involved in looking after a world-class golf course.
Prior to the Royal Adelaide ground support program, many of our members had never seen the maintenance facility, now they are on the tools, driving around the course in utility vehicles and assisting the greenskeepers in a range of jobs.
The members also use the opportunity to look at the course from a different perspective. They've always seen the course from a golfers point of view, but now they have been able to explore some of the native vegetation and wetland areas.
This volunteer program is already very popular and is sure to grow even more over the coming months.
