High rough areas helps conserve nature and minimise resource use

This year, we introduced multiple areas with high rough (Magerwiesen) to enhance both the fauna and flora of the course. Magerwiesen grasses, known for their low nutrient requirements and diverse species composition, provide an ideal habitat for a variety of animals, which use these areas for breeding. Additionally, these areas support the growth of rare plants, increasing the overall biodiversity of the course. The natural contours created by these grasslands not only improve the aesthetics and structure of the course but also reduce the workload for our greenkeeping team, as the drought-resistant grasses require less maintenance.

In addition to these ecological benefits, Magerwiesen grasses play a crucial role in carbon sequestration. Their deep root systems absorb and store carbon, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change. Moreover, the reduced need for frequent mowing leads to lower fuel consumption, contributing to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions.
