At Sun Peaks Resort LLP, all new buildings, including the golf maintenance facility, are heated using geothermal technology.

Wells are drilled into the earth to harness this energy, which exists in the form of naturally occurring steam and hot water. This energy is then brought to the surface to generate electricity, heat and cool buildings, and serve various other purposes.

This initiative aims to reduce our carbon footprint by utilizing the ground's temperature to extract and store heat in water tanks. Geothermal energy does not require burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas, or oil. In fact, using geothermal for electricity production emits only about one-sixth of the carbon dioxide produced by a natural gas power plant.

One of the key advantages of geothermal energy is its availability 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, regardless of weather conditions and can provide cooling in the summer, making them a dual-purpose solution that operates year-round.

This energy source is also highly cost-effective and assists in reducing our reliance on the national grid, helping us save money on our electricity bills.
