Formation of ecology group

Corhampton Golf Club

England

Written by: Ian Flux

During the Covid pandemic a group of volunteers from the golf club and course manager, Lestyn Carpenter started the ecology group. The aim was to improve the ecology of the course by asking volunteers with the knowledge to help out where they could.

Initially, the butterfly surveys were the main project but, later bird/bat/owl boxes were made from recycled wood and erected. Butterfly surveys are carried out throughout the spring and summer in accordance with the butterfly conservation guidelines and information boards are positioned alongside tees to inform golfers of the ecology on the course and a newsletter produced to all members informing them of progress.
