Woburn Golf Club

One of the club's main focuses for 2024 is to become as plastic-free as possible. So far, we have eliminated plastic lids from takeaway coffee cups and plastic takeout containers, and we now use paper straws, wooden stirrers, and wooden takeaway cutlery.

The following initiatives have already been implemented across the club:

  • Woburn Pens: Woburn-branded pens are now made from wheat straw, replacing plastic.
  • Takeaway Food Containers: Our takeaway sandwich bags are 100% compostable and are currently used in the Bloomsbury Room for takeaway breakfast rolls. These will soon be implemented for in-house pre-made takeaway sandwiches. Our takeaway food boxes for hot food are also 100% compostable and made from Vegware.
  • Takeaway Cups: All of our branded takeaway cups for hot beverages are 100% compostable, including the lids. We also sell branded reusable flasks in the Bloomsbury Room. Customers receive an additional 10% discount whenever they bring a Woburn flask back for a refill on hot beverages, redeemable in the Bloomsbury Room, the bar, and on the course, helping to reduce waste.
  • Bin Bags: We are implementing new compostable bin bags to replace black plastic bags across the club.
