Uf Lane 6 händ mir es ungenutzts Areal in es lebendig Blume-Wiesli verwandelet, wo sowohl d’Ästhetik wie au d’Biodiversität vo de Golfplatz verbessert. Der Prozess het dazue gah, dass mir rund 700m² Land freigemacht hend und es mit eme speziell usgwählte Blume-Wiesli-Mix neu ausgesät hend. Der Mix enthält 55 unterschidlich Blume- und Kräuteri-Sorten, wo speziell usgwählt sind, um verschideni Bestäuber anzizieh und lokal Wildtier z’unterstütze. Mir mähn die Fläche zweimal im Jahr, so dass d’Pflanze natürlich sät werde chönne, was dafür sorgt, dass die Wiesli gesund bleibt und witerhin wachst.
D’Vorteil vom Einsetze vo Wildblume uf Golfplätz sind erheblich. Wildblume-Wiesli erschaffe wichtigi Lebensräume für Bestäuber wie Bie und Schmetterling, wo e schlüssi Roll für d’Gesundheit vo lokale Ökosysteme spiele. Dur s’Unterstütze vo diese Spezies trage mir zum grösser Ziel bei, die Biodiversität uf em Platz z’fördere. On hole 6, we’ve converted an unused area into a vibrant flower meadow, enhancing both the aesthetics and biodiversity of the golf course. The process began by clearing around 700m² of land, which was then sown with a specially selected flower meadow mix. This mix contains 55 different flower and herb species, chosen to attract a variety of pollinators and support local wildlife. We mow the area twice a year, allowing the plants to seed naturally, ensuring that the meadow remains healthy and continues to thrive.
The benefits of incorporating wildflowers into golf courses are substantial. Wildflower meadows create important habitats for pollinators, such as bees and butterflies, which play a crucial role in maintaining the health of local ecosystems. By supporting these species, we contribute to the broader goal of enhancing biodiversity on the course. Wildflowers also help to improve soil quality by encouraging deep root growth, which can prevent erosion and reduce the need for chemical fertilizers. The variety of plants in the mix provides visual interest throughout the seasons, offering vibrant colours and textures, which are also beneficial for golfers’ enjoyment of the landscape.
Furthermore, flower meadows can support other wildlife, including birds, small mammals, and insects, helping to balance the natural ecosystem of the golf course. These areas require fewer resources than traditional turfgrass, such as water and fertilizer, making them more sustainable in the long term.
