In 2023, Shaughnessy Golf Club installed 45 new Quick Couplers (QCs) in addition to the existing QCs on the property. The majority of these new installations were placed on the fairways to reduce reliance on irrigation sprinklers, conserve water, and more effectively target localized dry spots. By prioritizing the use of hoses over running sprinkler heads, Shaughnessy has seen a reduction in its annual water usage.

Furthermore, wetting agent attachments can be added to the hoses to encourage improved water infiltration and retention in these specific areas. The project involved identifying and documenting historical dry spots and then installing the QCs within the existing irrigation system at key locations. These efforts have not only improved water efficiency but also contributed to a sustainable balance between maintaining optimal turfgrass conditions and preserving resources.
