We will be adjusting our maintenance practices for several wider grass areas on our course. Daily mowing will cease in select rough areas to encourage natural growth. These areas are chosen based on grass type and their impact on gameplay, ensuring players can still locate their hooks and slices.
By increasing the naturalised areas on the course, we reduce resources such as time and fuel for mowing, thereby lowering our carbon footprint. Additionally, these naturalised areas sequester more carbon than the managed turfgrass on the fairways. The roughs also create diverse habitats for wildflowers, grasses and animals, providing them with spaces to nest, mate, and feed away from the high-traffic areas of the course.
