New Landscaping & Dune Scape
The construction of the new Greenkeeper facility necessitated the relocation of the existing club entrance, aiming to create a more impactful sense of arrival. The significant enhancements at the entrance feature the planting of indigenous trees, flora, and hedges. To improve the flow of patrons arriving at the club, large sand dunes were created, which also provide a natural screen between the car park and the Greenkeeper sheds. This approach fosters the establishment of natural habitats, harmonising with the rest of the course.
Resin Resurfacing
In the detailed design of the new entrance, Royal County Down explored various surfacing options but ultimately chose a porous resin finish. This fully Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS) designed system allows stormwater to soak through, preventing discharge or runoff into the local sewage system.
