As part of our machinery fleet replacement programme, we are focusing on cleaner and quieter technology, utilising both hybrid and electric machinery. Historically we have used diesel powered machines to mow greens and tees along with petrol powered pedestrian mowers and blowers. These are now being phased out with the latest hybrid technology which is providing upward of 30% fuel savings and 20% noise reductions.

We now operate 14 hybrid mowers and 10 electric blowers across the 3 golf courses which are providing a fuel savings of 9,000 litres of diesel and 3,000lts of petrol per year. As the courses are located within urban settings the reduction in noise has also been at the centre of our decision making as we have replaced all of our petrol powered backpack blowers with battery powered models, that are 20% quieter and enable our team to work in the early morning hours and around golfers. The added advantage to these technologies is that we also take away the threats of petrol spills and hydraulic leaks from the turf areas which are our worst fears as greenkeepers.
