We have always taken inspiration from Nelson Mandela and his wise words - “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. This played a big role in the mission of The Bryanston Country Club Charity Trust that was set up in 2018.
In a smaller project with one of our volunteer members, we provided the golf staff with basic IT training allowing them to be able to do simple things like email daily incident reports. In the process, we saw how huge the need was for access to computers. We also identified staff that were unable to read and for the past year, they have been flourishing through ABET training courses.
Our Education Centre has officially opened; developed in an old staff house behind the pro-shop and the Trust is interviewing for a full-time person to become the centre manager. Creating an employment position for the training centre is also a great additional benefit to the community.
