From inedible to enjoyable dates through natural pollination

Al Mouj Golf

Although no Date Palm trees were intentionally planted on Al Mouj Golf, several have naturally emerged over the past decade. Despite maturing and bearing fruit, the dates were previously inedible because the flowers had never undergone cross-pollination.

However, this summer marked a significant change with the introduction of honey bees, the rise in native bee populations, and increased presence of other pollinators across the course. Finally, the dates are now in a condition to be enjoyed by members, guests, and, primarily, staff. With the ongoing increase in pollinator populations, we anticipate more trees will be cross-pollinated in the future, leading to an abundance of enjoyable dates.
