At Sentosa Golf Club, we made a conscious effort to start protecting and developing colonies for one of the world's most important species - Bees. The worldwide bee population is down by approximately 75%, and around 75% of the world's food crops are dependent on pollination from bees.
Behind the 4th hole of our New Tanjong course, we have developed four colonies of stingless bees (Heterotrigona itama) in order to raise awareness for one of the world's most important species and set the standards for other golf clubs and organisations throughout the world to help maintain and grow the worldwide bee population.
The creation of these colonies forms part of the club's wider environmental campaign, #KeepitGreen, that looks to create an environmentally friendly setting by introducing sustainable initiatives, both on and off the course, for the betterment of the environment.
