Conserving water using closed-loop wash bay

Royal County Down Golf Club

Northern Ireland

A closed-loop, “zero discharge” wash water treatment system is in place for the cleaning of the machinery. Using a wash rack drain, the dirty water is instantly sent through a system that treats it, filters it, and loops it back such that it can continue to be used for washing all site equipment.

The system biologically treats and filters out grease, grime, oil, and other gunk that is likely to collect on vehicles and equipment protecting the surrounding environment from pollution. Fully contained, this system recycles all water outflows, cutting costs as well as minimising the club’s water footprint day after day.
