Alex Stolarski from EntoSearch and his assistant, Maddy, visited Glenelg Golf Club and Grange Golf Club recently to start their first collection from insect traps for their coastal invertebrates study. This first insect collection will establish baseline data for the rest of the six-month study.
The study is funded by a Green Adelaide Grassroots Grant and will contribute to our understanding of our insect diversity and abundance in coastal systems and the role insects play in that habitat. It is one of the first extensive insect studies to be conducted in Adelaide.
Insect specimens pinned as part of the study will be donated to the South Australian Museum where they will provide an insight into the insect profile of Adelaide and provide data for any future insect studies.
