As a golf facility, like any small to medium-sized business, or a large household, we produce a good deal of battery waste. With a large squad of 20 in peak season, our team uses batteries for radios and various other electronics and the evidence of consumption mounts up!
We also encourage staff to bring them in from home which we recycle together at the local specialist centre where the recovered metals are made into other products. The cadmium element can also be returned to battery manufacturers to create a fully closed loop recycling system. Previously these would just have gone in the bin and been sent to landfill - an ecological disaster waiting to happen.
