Careful development of Moors

In the past years, we expanded the acreage of moors to about 13,000m2 and started a different mow regime by mowing about one-third of the existing acreage each year at a height of appr. 10cm. The result is a different growth stage and a stacked bloom stage and that creates a more natural habitat for all kinds of insect species.

By mowing this way, we also create better sparse vegetation, necessary for the development of moors. The clippings are scattered in designated areas to support the development of moors. Before mowing, volunteers remove the excess (young trees) to prevent the sprouting of seeds of unwanted trees and bush species.
