GKG is committed to community development and better engagement with the community. As part of this, we have committed to planting trees in re-wilded areas on the course. This season, 4200 trees have been added to the Myrin and Leirdalur courses. These include Betula, Larix, and Abies (birch, larch, and fur trees ).

Members have joined us in planting saplings alongside the greenkeeping team in the initiative, with plans to continue and expand these areas in 2025. Continuing our pledge to plant and grow the wild areas on course, natural filtration of CO2 in the air and water in the ground. Naturally impeding the rate of CO2 remaining in the atmosphere and adding to Iceland's wild and wonderful biodiversity.

By doing this we hope to have a positive impact on the wildlife on the course, creating nesting opportunities for nesting birds and insects. Enticing species onto the course to live and thrive within the unique ecosystem we have.
