Safaa golf club have always made sure the course is utilised to its potential, so during the winter months we have organised bird watching at one or more of the lakes at Safaa golf which attracts over 160 different species of bird per year both static and migratory.
Some 7 years ago we re-purposed an old wooden structure and constructed the first bird hide in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. This proves very popular in the winter as the temps are considerably more comfortable for such activities.
This simple offering helps garner a closer understanding of nature, especially to the young children of KAUST, of how we must live in balance with nature, especially more so in the middle of the desert.
