In recent years, Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club has implemented several projects to enhance biodiversity on its grounds, including installing bird nesting boxes to address the shortage of natural cavities. These boxes create important habitats for local bird species, including two listed as threatened in Switzerland. By providing essential nesting sites, the project not only boosts biodiversity but also helps control insect populations, reducing reliance on chemical pest control.
Additionally, the project has a community focus: the club collaborated with local schools in Crans-Montana, where students built and installed the bird boxes with the help of a biologist. This initiative offers valuable educational opportunities for young ornithologists and whilst helping us engage with the local community.
