The Atlantic Beach community came together to raise awareness for Earth Day 2024, emphasizing the importance of Recycling, Reusing, and Reducing. Two initiatives were held:

  1. Recycling Education for Children: The children of Atlantic Beach were invited to drop off their recycling materials in bins at the Atlantic Beach Clubhouse. They were also educated on how to properly separate their recycling waste. This initiative complements our already robust domestic recycling and garden waste recycling programs at Atlantic Beach.

  2. Reducing Kitchen Waste: The second initiative focused on reducing wet kitchen waste going to landfill sites by showcasing the combination of the Bokashi Kitchen Waste system with the YOLO Compost Tumbler system. When used together, these systems generate compost from kitchen waste, which can then be used directly in garden soil. This combination is crucial because, unlike normal composting processes, not all kitchen waste can go into these tumblers when used independently. This is a neat and effective solution!
