Alternative rough management saves €3,500 annually

Hill Side Golf & Country Club

Finland

Hill Side Golf Club established a rough management plan as part of its sustainability management plan. The outcome of this was establishing a more efficient rough maintenance programme.

By changing mowing patterns, and using alternative management practices - such as raking the rough (see picture) - 392 fewer hours were spent mowing rough. Fuel and machinery use was reduced and a cost savings of €3,500 per annum was achieved. Savings in fuel were part of net savings of over €10k per annum from the overall improvements in club resource and management efficiencies.
