Upon evaluation, we were able to calculate that we have five newly created ponds and two reed beds to add to our existing three streams that pass through the course. In the last 5 years of operation, it has become evident that many of these water bodies and reed areas have come well overgrown, and as a result, several species have inhabited these areas. In 2022, a survey was conducted to assess the number of typical marsh and water plants, and this year the fauna at the water's edge will also be examined closely.
It is amazing to see the abundance of plants that have populated the area in such a short space of time. Examples include Cattails, Reeds and Rushes, Duckweeds, and Irises. In addition, the biodiversity of the immediately adjacent cultivated land is the extremely rich. A total of 55 plant species were found in the streams and ponds: 9 Aquatic plants species, 13 marsh plant species, 2 Lean meadow plants species, 4 Pioneer plants species, 11 Ruderal plants species, 9 Bare meadow plants species and 7 Forest plants species. We are extremely pleased about this diversity and for those interested, the plant species list is available on our website homepage.
