The WM Phoenix Open is internationally recognized as the largest verified zero waste event in the world and has been awarded GEO certification each year since the 2017 tournament. As it is also the largest attended tournament on the PGA Tour, its green credentials are very wide-reaching.
Since 2013, WM has diverted 100 per cent of tournament waste through recycling, composting, donation, reuse or creating energy. There are no trash bins at the tournament which means that the continued effort to educate visitors on how to Recycle Right is extremely important. This campaign highlights the importance of splitting materials correctly to avoid contaminating recycling.
